Applications for the suspension of studies for exchange program and internship

To accommodate the increasing demand for applications for the suspension of studies for exchange program and internship purposes, effective from February 1st, 2024, students are required to submit their applications and upload the required documents via the web forms. Please find the details below:

Notes:

  • Please be advised that this application is solely for requesting a suspension of study. Any other matters, such as credit transfer, deferment of study period, or exceeding course limits, will not be taken into consideration or approved through this application, even if you mention them in your study plan.
  • You are advised to contact Ada for guidance and advice regarding your internship or career planning.
  • The Suspension of Study Application form, Study plan in Excel format, Study plan in Word format, and the Decoration of Programme Completion can be downloaded using the following link https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/16rYGXN4a1sGyI9UsEJ54G9NHNGGArN_n?usp=sharing. Please refer to the sample files for guidance on how to fill in these materials.
  • Please save documents a-e as a single PDF file and submit this document along with documents f-h when completing this form. Additionally, please send all documents and your request to Rika at qfin@cuhk.edu.hk.
  • The processing time for this application is typically 7-10 working days. However, failure to submit a complete application or incorrect information will result in a much longer processing time.
  • The study plan is intended solely for planning purposes. Approval of your application does not imply that no changes are needed in the study plan to ensure timely graduation. Students are strongly encouraged to review CUSIS requirements and course availability to facilitate a seamless graduation process.

Internship

  • Suspension of Study Application form for internship
  • Offer letter, which should clearly state the company name, your position, contract period, working hours, and salary
  • Copy of Student Identity Card and Hong Kong Identity Card
  • The most updated transcript
  • (For non-local students only) No Objection Letter
  • Study plan in Excel format
  • (For QFRM students only) Study plan in Word format, ensuring that the information is consistent with the Excel file.
  • (For QFRM students only) Decoration of Programme Completion

 

Exchange

  • Suspension of Study Application form for exchange program
  • Offer letter from the host university (This is a mandatory requirement. Please make the application until you have received the offer letter. We cannot proceed with your case without this document.)
  • Study plan in Excel format
  • The most updated transcript
  • (For QFRM students only) Study plan in Word format, ensuring that the information is consistent with the Excel file.
  • (For QFRM students only) Decoration of Programme Completion

Applications for the course substitution and change of expected graduation term

Application for course substitution (Only for exceptional cases):

  1. Send an e-mail to request for course substitution to get approval, including:
  • Name
  • SID
  • Programme
  • Course to be substituted
  • Course already taken

Application for change of expected graduation term:

  1. Reminder:
  • Students are permitted to extend their graduation for only one term per request. If you wish to extend for two terms, you must provide a clear explanation as to why you are unable to graduate on time and why there is no other possible solutions.
  • Please note that valid reasons for extension consideration include an insufficient total credit count, failure to complete major requirements, or unfulfilled university requirements. However, reasons such as taking on jobs/exchange or pursuing minor programs will not be considered as valid grounds for extension.
