About Us

  1. The Quantitative Finance (QFIN) Programme was established in 1998 with the aim of training individuals who aspire to pursue careers in the financial industry. Over the years, our programme has responded to the market's need for highly skilled professionals with a strong background in quantitative and analytical skills in today's globalized economy. We offer specially designed courses in finance, mathematics, statistics, and information technology, enabling students to better understand the latest developments in the financial industry.
  2.
  3. To bridge the gap between the classroom and the real world of banking and finance, we offer practical courses by industry practitioners. Additionally, sharing sessions and seminars provide students with ample opportunities to discuss current finance-related issues with industry experts.
  4.
  5. Many reports have indicated that AI will reshape the future job market and potentially replace numerous positions. Unfortunately, employees in the financial industry, like those in other industries, will also be threatened by this trend. We are well aware of the potential impact on the financial industry and are committed to training students to create value for their employers and clients through the development of interpersonal and social skills. To this end, we encourage students to participate in alumni networking, investment analysis competitions, student activities, internships, exchange programs, and peer interactions to learn how to work with people from all walks of life.
  6.
  7. Graduates of the QFIN Programme are ideally suited for positions requiring strong quantitative skills, such as valuation, portfolio analysis, asset allocation, credit analysis, risk modeling, and structured finance. We also provide a solid foundation for careers in investment banking, commercial and corporate banking, financial services, accounting and general management, or for further advanced studies. With over 1,000 alumni established in the industry, we are proud to have trained professionals who have made significant contributions to the financial industry.

Why study with us?

  1. Established in 1998, we are the first quantitative finance program in Hong Kong. A rich history allows us to build a strong alumni network. Our alumni are now working in various positions in the financial industry, providing our current students with invaluable connections and opportunities. Furthermore, our alumni are dedicated to giving back to the program and its students. They hold sharing sessions, teach classes, act as mentors, and provide scholarships to support the next generation of students. Their willingness to help their juniors is a testament to the strong sense of community that our program fosters.

  5. Our program's ability to attract talented and passionate students from diverse backgrounds has resulted in a dynamic and stimulating learning environment. 7. We believe that higher education is a time for students to explore their interests and passions. That's why, in addition to the required courses for their program and the university, students are given the opportunity to choose 12 credits worth of courses that they want to explore. This allows them to delve into a variety of fields and discover new interests. Furthermore, students have the option to use these credits to pursue a minor in a specific area of study, such as Computer Science, Economics, French, Mathematics, Philosophy, Risk Management, Statistics, and more.
  8.
  9. In addition, we have a dedicated placement director who provides career advice and support to our students. This includes resume and cover letter reviews, interview preparation, and networking opportunities. Our placement officer also works closely with companies and organizations to connect our students with internship and job opportunities.
